Job Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate the eligibility of potential clients in the Individual business segment and recommend appropriate premium rates based on comprehensive risk assessments.
  • Contribute to achieve departmental goals and support the continuous enhancement and implementation of department policies and procedures.
  • Effectively communicate with brokers and agents to gather necessary information, clarify uncertainties, and balance customer needs with company risk.
  • Provide technical medical underwriting support and guidance for excellent customer service.
  • Respond to Intermediaries and broker queries and facilitate operations to provide the best customer experience.
  • Assist in managing departmental operations to ensure that defined Turn-Around-Times (TATs) are met.
  • Perform data analysis and data mining to profile medical costs.
  • Liaise with Medical departments to enhance Business Management system advancement and automation processes and protect Daman from anti-selection.
  • Stay commercially aware to offer flexibility in acquiring new business and retaining profitable accounts.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of all underwriting decisions and policies.
  • Identify and suggest improvements to underwriting guidelines to ensure consistency in underwriting practices and enhance business results.
  • Stay informed about the latest medical knowledge, industry trends, and insurance regulations to make well-informed underwriting decisions.
  • Train new joiners and junior colleagues in medical assessment techniques.

Key Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years in Individual/ Medical underwriting.
  • Experience in Medical Underwriting is preferred.
  • Certificate in Level 1 ALMI or any other equivalent insurance certification preferred.
  • FLMI, ALMI, or any other equivalent insurance certification is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in any medical discipline.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of the core principles of Insurance, medical terminology, and underwriting guidelines.
  • Analytical and strategic thinking skills to evaluate complex medical information.
  • Good leadership skills including people management and development skills.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English; knowledge of Arabic language is an advantage.
  • Planning, forecasting, execution, and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to details with strong focus on quality.
  • Flexible and able to work under pressure.
  • Respectful and promotes trust and confidentiality.
  • Result-oriented whilst ensuring high quality of work and able to "think out of the box."
  • Strong level of customer service and professionalism in all interactions.
  • Able to work well in a multi-cultural environment and promote teamwork and knowledge sharing.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft applications.
