EcologistWetland Scientist

JobDuties/Responsibilities:

• Perform wetland delineations usingthe U.S. Army Corps of Engineers 1987 Wetland Delineation Manualand Regional Supplements (Primarily the Eastern Mountains andPiedmont (EMP) and Atlantic & Gulf Coastal Plain(AGCP).
• Conduct forest stand delineations andtree assessments in urban settings.
• PerformChesapeake Bay Area and threatened and endangered speciesstudies.
• Assist in the management andmonitoring of stream and wetland mitigationbanks.
• Prepare technical reports and maps inCAD and write proposals.
• Conduct dataanalysis.
• Oversee and manage multiple projectswithin client’s scope, budget, schedule expectations andensure quality standards on all projectdeliverables.
• Interface with local, state, andfederal government agencies.
• Mentor and assistin training junior staff.
• Participate inindustry organizations and aid in business development.
  

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree inBiology, Ecology, Botany, Environmental Science, or a relateddiscipline.
• 3+ years of relevant environmentalconsulting experience, and management experiencepreferred.
• Fundamental and working knowledge oflocal, state and federal regulatory regulations and processes inVirginia, Maryland, DC and West Virginia related to landdevelopment.
• Working knowledge of fieldtechniques for wetland delineations, plant identification, soilsampling and threatened and endangered speciesstudies.
• Ability to manage multiple projectsand meet strict deadlines.
• High levelproficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Stronginterpersonal skills and experienced with effectively communicatingwith clients and agency.
• Detail oriented andwell developed written/verbal communication and analyticalskills.
• Desire to work in a team-orientedenvironment.
• Ability to work a mixture ofoffice and field work, in all seasons of the year and regularlytravel regionally.
• Environmental monitoring,Due diligence, Remediation,Groundwater
• Experience with CAD or GISsoftware
• Experience in recording/writingdetailed technical reports
• Working knowledge offield techniques for wetland delineations, plant identification,soil sampling and threatened and endangered speciesstudies.
• USACE 1987 Wetland Delineation Manualand Regional Supplements (Primarily the Eastern Mountains andPiedmont (EMP) and Atlantic & Gulf Coastal Plain(AGCP))
• Certified Arborist (ISA-CA)certification preferred
