Manager, Clinical Applications

The Manager, Clinical Applications is responsible for the technical management, expertise, and daily oversight of clinical application implementation and maintenance activities across Outpatient, Inpatient, Pharmacy, and Imaging applications. This role involves managing the functional and technical delivery of solutions, new features, and applications in partnership with business and other IT teams.
The Manager will independently lead teams to address issues, make design decisions, and ensure effective implementation with minimal supervision. This includes delivery of clear communication and documentation of concepts and issues related to clinical applications across the organization. The role also entails leading complex analysis, approving testing strategies, issue resolution activities, and ensuring timely communication of solutions to impacted users.
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Operational and Team Management
- Plans and oversees day-to-day activities of clinical application team members, working with team leads to prioritize work, allocate resources, and ensure timely delivery.
- Supervises application analysis, configuration, and testing.
- Manages process and functional design for multiple clinical applications.
- Oversees application build, testing, and deployment.
- Leads system testing for major features and implementations.
- Identifies improvement opportunities in system and application monitoring.
- Collaborates with other managers on complex projects, system enhancements, and timely implementation.
Service Management & Project Management
- Manages day-to-day deliverables, including meeting SLAs, enhancements, and project delivery.
- Ensures resolution SLAs are met for managed applications.
- Oversees adherence to problem management processes, including timely root cause analysis.
- Ensures team compliance with change management protocols.
- Identifies trends, anticipates problems, and provides third-level support.
- Reports on outstanding work, issues, and risks weekly.
- Mentors team leads and analysts in areas such as build/configuration, issue resolution, testing, and training.
- Synthesizes technical and operational feedback from clinical and business champions.
Leading Teams & Management Responsibilities
- Implements best practices for clinical applications and customizes policies, procedures, and training as needed.
- Conducts weekly team meetings for updates on projects, issues, and changes.
- Oversees resource allocation and planning.
- Manages hiring, coaching, and mentoring to develop team members.
- Identifies training needs for staff and ensures they receive necessary development.
- Reviews and verifies employee performance, providing guidance as needed.
- Leads continuous improvement initiatives within the team.
- Ensures timely decision-making on team matters.
- Provides budget recommendations and manages team productivity.
- Recruits, develops, and retains staff; conducts performance evaluations and ensures overall technical proficiency.
Go-Live Activities
- Leads implementation of software design changes based on quality improvement principles and documents requirements for system and workflow changes that support clinical operations.
- Provides go-live support for new end-users, including direct vendor support during initial phases.
- Acts as a liaison between end-users and vendors.
- Leads troubleshooting, support, and maintenance of revenue cycle applications to ensure optimal functionality.

- Adheres to CCAD's standards as they appear in the Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest policies
QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Education
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Healthcare Management, Medicine, Nursing or Pharmacy, or equivalent is required
- MD/BDS/Nursing/Health management
Experience
- Minimum of 10+ years of experience in implementing and supporting Epic EMR in a hospital setting.
- Proven experience in managing a team/s in healthcare IT setting.
- In-depth knowledge of Pharmacy and Imaging technologies.
- Project and process management
Certification and Licensure
- Current certification in one or multiple Epic applications.
Job Specific Skills and Abilities
- Healthcare IT workflows and technologies
- Familiarity with clinical and administrative hospital functions and departments required
- Effective leadership, negotiation, facilitation, and conflict management skills.
- Excellent administration, communication and presentation skills
- Ability to multi-task and function in a dynamic environment
- In depth domain experience in at least one of the clinical application areas
