Dubai Holding is looking to hire an Associate Director Internal Audit reporting to the Chief Internal Audit Officer in the Internal Audit Function. The role holder's responsibility is to provide independent and objective assurance and make recommendations on the effectiveness of the Groups corporate governance, risk management, and internal controls and to carry out activities in accordance with the Group-wide Audit Manual and International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Audit; and to implement the Groups audit department strategies efficiently and effectively to conform audit operations to the Dubai Holding and the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing standards.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Direct the development and implementation of the Internal audit strategy.
  • Direct the development of the three-year and annual audit plan using risk-based prioritization, and recommend the effective allocation of people, time, budget, and resources in order to ensure that audit initiatives are carried out as per the set timelines, budget, and standards.
  • Assess potential and actual risks as identified by the audit reviews, as per the DH Audit Manual, and formulate recommendations to mitigate them in a timely manner.
  • Review the audit reports to ensure their compliance with the audit standards as well to endorse the findings, conclusions, and required corrective/preventive actions in order to ensure that best-fit, practical and value-added audit recommendations are presented to the business.
  • Provide guidance and expertise to key process owners on the implementation, or participate in appraising the adequacy, of the corrective action plans initiated against the relevant audit recommendations in order to ensure that risks are mitigated in a proactive and timely manner.
  • Direct and oversee the research, analysis, and benchmarking process for internal audit practices to ensure their continuous improvement based on global industry practices and world-class standards.
  • Contribute to the achievement of the IA department budget.
  • Oversee the implementation, recommend improvements to departmental policy, and manage the implementation of procedures and controls covering all areas of activity so that all relevant procedural requirements are fulfilled while ensuring that DH Group delivers world-class services, excellence, and innovation.
  • Ensure compliance with the Health, Safety and Environment standards affecting the Internal Audit function.
  • Any other duties as may reasonably be requested by Corporate and Dubai Holding management.
Who we are looking for:
  • Minimum 13 years of relevant internal and/or external audit experience, preferably with the relevant Domain experience in which the Dubai Holding Group operates, a recognized blue-chip organization or within the Big 4.
  • Previous experience within one of the Big 4 preferred.
  • Experience of working in an international capacity and a solid understanding of cultural and market differences (especially those of the Middle East and Asia).
  • Strong understanding of governance models, audit and audit reporting best practice in the respective Industry Domain.
  • Good understanding of Groups various operations.
  • Strong inter-personal skills and an ability to connect with people at all levels to drive successful relationships.
  • Essential: Arabic speaker + Excellent English written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, Computer literate, ability to Lead a Team.
  • Desirable: Advanced Excel user with good CAAT/ Audit software technology (MK Insight)/ Data mining.
Education / Professional Certifications:

Essential

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business or equivalent from an accredited and renowned University.
  • Professional Certification (CA, CPA, CIA, CFE or CISA).

Desirable

  • Master's Degree in Accounting, Business or equivalent from an accredited and renowned University.
Technical Competencies:
  • Internal audit methodology and IA reporting technology.
  • Risk management and forensics.
  • Financial accounting and management accounting practices and principles.
  • Adequate knowledge of legal requirements within the UAE, international internal audit standards and requirements.
  • Excellent service delivery and process management skills.
  • Excellent analytical capabilities.
Behavioural Competencies:

  • Leadership management and influence skills to function in a corporate environment.
  • Customer service mind-set while at the same time being assertive and ensuring compliance.
