JobDescription

The JrSommelier’s specific scope of responsibility will mainlyfall into the following areas, but at all times standardprocurement and approval processes at a property level must befollowed.

  • Creation andupdate of the wine list and wine by the glass offerings, andoverall control and maintenance of the winecellar
  • In cooperation with culinary operationsand recreation, plan & execute wine of month, promotions,wine dinners, and guest winetasting.
  • Maintaining/stocking all related wineequipment
  • Ongoing colleague training anddevelopment on wine knowledge, including daily departmentaltraining
  • Pioneer wine up-sellinginitiatives
  • Controlling open wines to avoidspoilage
  • Joining wine events/tasting outsidethe resort and become a recognised expert in thecommunity.
  • Build a network of other talentedF&B professionals in other properties who might berecruited in future.
  • Able to lead wine tastingwith guests
  • Conduct monthly wine inventory withcost controller
  • Oversee the wine offers in room(mini-bar)

Qualifications

  • College diploma in Hotel/BarManagement or related field
  • Previous experienceas a Jr Wine Sommelier/Guru
  • Previous experiencein managing a team of bartenders.
  • Passion forteamwork
  • Extensive knowledge of wines and otherbeverages
  • Excellent guest serviceskills
  • WSETCertification
