Responsibilities

JOB PURPOSE:

The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) role includes supplier qualifications, improvement and action plans, audits, performance monitoring, and developing key suppliers towards increasing standards of excellence. Responsibilities include assisting the Supplier Quality Director and Managers in the development of the Supplier Quality program as needed, helping to manage vendors, assessing supplier capabilities, making recommendations on supplier acceptability, understanding strategies for relevant commodities, and proactively driving initiatives to meet Sourcing and Quality objectives.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

QUALITY
Responsible for being familiar with the Company's Quality policies and takes an active role in the compliance and improvement of Weatherford's Management System Maintains service quality as immediate priorities when working across all areas of the business and continually seeks areas for improvement
OPERATIONS
Approves supplier selection through more streamlined qualification processesArranges supplier quality inspections to be done using internal resources or via a third party inspectorASL Team should coordinate with Supplier Quality and Sourcing to close the documentation gapsAssists the Supplier Quality Director and Managers in the development of the Supplier Quality program including process and procedure development, supplier due diligence, audits, scorecards, and supplier developmentAssures supplier compliance to Weatherford process and regulatory requirements through supplier monitoring process; develop and utilize supplier scorecards in line with the requirements of the Quality Management systemCollaborates closely with Sourcing, Category Management, Engineering, Product Lines, Manufacturing and his/her supervisor on a regular basis as well as present to internal teams on program development, supplier qualification and audit progress, metrics, and overall project statusCreates standard Supplier Quality procedures for use across Operations, Manufacturing, and Product Lines; rationalize and simplify existing procedures and guidelines as applicableDefines Inspection test plans / quality plans that may be required for manufacturing, sourcing or customer contractsDevelops positive relationships and work closely with Engineering, Sourcing leaders, Manufacturing leaders, and shop floor personnel to manage and implement supplier and engineering changesEnsures a compliant and qualified supply base by conducting supplier evaluations, supplier qualifications, supplier scorecards, supplier improvement action plans, and supplier auditsEnsures Corrective and Preventative Action Reports (CPARs) are prepared by supplier, completed with the sufficient level of depth, and actions are monitored through to effective closure Identifies and reports any quality concerns and take immediate corrective action as required.Improves supplier quality performance for assigned suppliers via Quality Plan implementation and relevant monitoring based on the risk categorization of the supplierIn Lead Supplier Quality Engineer role - Mentor and support local Supplier Quality Engineers in day to day questions and challenges; assist in next steps, problem solving, and technical questions necessary to progress a qualification, audit or investigate a supplier issueInterfaces with Suppliers, Engineering, and and Sourcing to drive Quality improvements that minimize the Costs of Quality, specifically Failed on Arrival/Install (FOA/FOI) issues, field failures, and factory defectsInterprets Design Engineering data (including blueprints, Bills of Material, specifications), and customer requirementsParticipates in kick-off meeting / pre-inspection meeting with vendorReview and approve vendor quality documentation for First Article Inspections at a minimum; Sourcing, ASL team and Supplier Quality must coordinate to ensure all documents are collected from the supplierReviews customer project specifications, identify quality requirements & implements quality inspection and testing requirementsUnderstands and administers supplier quality fulfillment of project contract requirements
COMMUNICATION
Maintains effective communications with all key stakeholders both internal and where appropriate externalSupervisors & Managers should clearly communicate expectations, roles and responsibilities to their reportsInteracts closely with Suppliers, Sourcing and Engineering to assist in the development of the Supplier Quality program, to execute the program, to identify improvements to the program, and to understand and address specific supplier quality issues

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

REQUIRED:
Bachelor's degree in EngineeringDemonstrated experience with third parties, supplier qualifications, and auditsInternal and external auditing experience
PREFERRED
Root Cause Analysis Incident Investigation TrainingOilfield services operational and technical experienceFailure Mode, Effects and Critically Analysis (FMEAC) / TapRoot experience5+ years of Supplier Quality experienceExperience using JDEExperience leading in a matrixed organization

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

REQUIRED:

Ability to coordinate with customers and third party inspectorsAbility to interpret engineering drawings, technical notes, procedures and specificationsAble to work in a fast-paced environment with the ability to evoke critical thinkingBasic knowledge of various welding processes (SMAW, GTAW, FCAW, and SAW) and materialsDemonstrated collaboration, negotiation and conflict resolution skills with suppliersDemonstrated report-writing skillsDemonstrated skills related to problem-solving, decision-making, judgment, leadership, root-cause analyses, and team collaboration to lead and influence others to drive changeFabrication or design experience for Mechanical SQEs; Electrical / software experience for Software SQEsKnowledge about NDT methods such as (PAUT, MT, US, ToFD, LP)Strong communication and facilitation skills between functions - verbal and written Strong knowledge in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook)Working knowledge of recognized standards and codes such as ASME, AWS, API, ASTM, NACE, ISO, etc.
