Purpose of the position

To carry out maintenance, modifications and repairs to aircraft Electrical, Avionic and Mission System in accordance with work card instructions and relevant controlled technical documentation. Actively assist other trades and hangar personnel to achieve timely aircraft delivery to Customer / End User.

Actively support, promote and contribute to continuous improvement ideas and activity to ensure that progressive gains in efficiency are maintained.

Accountability

Accountable for the safe and compliant completion of maintenance and modifications on aircraft under the supervision of a Technician or Team Leader.

The position of Avionic Fitter will report to the Operations Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out maintenance tasks on aircraft/components in accordance with approved documentation.
  • Assist in delivery of aircraft to Customer flight operations.
  • Comply with all health, safety and environmental and airworthiness regulations.
  • Work in accordance with company procedures to ensure compliance with requirements associated with the role, e.g. tool control, document control, system updates and certification.

Tasks

A piece of work to be done within the responsibility of the role.

  • Complete maintenance tasks allocated by supervisor / team leader.
  • Complete tool kit checks and PPE checks.
  • Assist in On The Job Training (OJT) delivery as required.
  • Carry out FOD and Bay checks ensuring a safe working environment is upheld.
  • Attend relevant meetings as specified by Team Lead and Management team.
  • Assist the company in other Customer Deliverables that may not be directly related to aircraft maintenance.

Technical Competencies

Applied or technical knowledge and skills needed for effective performance in the role.

  • High degree of understanding and awareness of IFS, Windchill (PLM), i.e. maintenance systems used in aircraft maintenance
  • High degree of understanding and awareness of aircraft technical data sets, i.e.. Wiring diagrams
  • Computer literate
  • Engineering hand skills suitable for competency assessment

Education & Qualifications

Required levels of qualification and education required for the role.

  • GCSEs or High School Equivalent
  • NVQ Level 3 apprenticeship or Equivalent
  • Valid Driving Licence
  • Continuation Training – EWIS, Fuel Tank Safety, Working At Heights
  • IPAF certified - Mobile Elevated Working Platforms (MEWP)

Experience

Experience required in order to carry out role in an effective manner.

  • Minimum 5 years working in aviation engineering - (Essential)
  • Carrying out maintenance, repair and overhaul of aircraft/components - (Essential)
  • Time served in both Line and Depth maintenance - (Essential)
  • Experience working Bombardier Global type (BD700) - (Desirable)
  • Modification installation experience - (Desirable)
  • Experience working in a military environment - (Desirable)

Additional role requirements, such as physical requirements, environmental conditions, travel etc.

  • Experience Working and living in the UAE
  • UAE Driving Licence
