On behalf of our client in the United Arab Emirates, we are looking for a skilled Geospatial Expert to join our organization in Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates. This remarkable role offers a unique opportunity to work on several exciting projects in the region.

The key purpose is to effectively provide geospatial leadership including strategic and operational planning, policy and standards development, project management, and implementation. Also exists to provide effective decision-making information to the organisation.

 

The Geospatial Expert will be responsible for working in an open, collaborative, multi-disciplinary team, in active cooperation with other staff of our client organization and government entities, as well as in cooperation with industry and research communities.

 

The ideal candidate should have the ability for creative thinking and problem solving and the ability to work well independently or as part of a team.

This role is part of the Space Technical team and will be reporting to the Head of Space.

 

 Key Accountabilities

 

  • Coordinate an effective, efficient and robust geospatial service to internal and external clients and deliver specialist geospatial advice and information across the team.
  • Support with the preparation and evaluation of industrial procurements.
  • Accountable for robust geospatial data capture, collection and management (SAR, optical, and other datasets).
  • Analysis of data is traceable and presented using appropriate visualisation techniques and tools.
  • Demonstrate, promote and contribute to spatial industry best practice.
  • Oversee the design, schedule, budget and implementation to GIS systems and software applications, including database design and administration.
  • Accountable for quality technical documentation on geospatial systems and applications.
  • Ensure a high level of technical geospatial advice and input is provided into other internal and external project teams.
  • Ensure the analysis and user requirements for tasks and projects requiring geospatial is fit for purpose.
  • Plan and propose solution services related to the utilization of SAR and other EO satellite images based on industry and customer needs.
  • Responsible for the production of data, maps and reports for internal and external clients that meet customer needs whilst meeting internal performance measures.

 

Specific Requirements

 

  • Master’s degree in engineering / GIS / Computer Science / Geography / Remote Sensing.
  • At least 7 years’ experience in handling Geospatial data repositories, QA, and QC activities using software tools such as MS-Excel, ArcGIS etc.
  • 3 years project management experience.
  • Specialist GIS and cartography experience and the ability to be able to apply this knowledge to enhance quality and results.
  • Experience in designing and delivering geospatial solutions, following agreed standards and tools.
  • In-depth knowledge of geospatial concepts.
  • Knowledge of corporate GIS architecture and enterprise GIS systems.
  • Understanding of data management principles to ensure best use of organization and visualization mapping services.
  • Experience of using cloud infrastructure.
  • Experience in image processing and image recognition using Python, C++, etc.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Knowledge of Python, JavaScript, or Java is desirable.
  • Proficient in the English language, both written and spoken.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Presentation skills.
  • Conflict resolution skills.
