Job Specific Accountabilities

  • Participate in providing proper assessment of the risks associated with the Company’s contracts and agreements in order to ensure that (i) the Company is not exposed to uncontrolled legal risk; and (ii) the right protective legal instruments are used in order to properly hedge against the identified legal risks
  • Participate in providing legal opinions on possible legal claims arising out of the different commercial matters engaged in by the Company e.g. customers, suppliers, vendors, contractors etc. with a view to protecting the Company’s rights, minimising its liability and where required, reaching amicable settlements in line with management’s discretion
  • Provide oversight and assistance to the Company’s corporate governance department
  • Provide legal advice and assistance to the Board and its Committees. Legal Consultation
  • Study legal cases and lawsuits that the organisation is involved in, in order to fully understand the Company’s legal position in concerned cases
  • Provide professional legal consultation to the Company’s Management and all Divisions/ Departments and prepare memos with recommendations and actions to be undertaken, for all legal matters raised, so that the right legal action can be undertaken
  • Prepare national and international agreements, Memorandum of Understanding (MOUs) and templates relating to the Company and coordinate with concerned units to ensure alignment.
  • Resolve conflicts resulting from contract management and follow up on the status and progress of court cases that lead to verdicts, and orders to be executed
  • Draft documents on legislation related to the Company to ensure that relevant and up-to-date information on legislation is available to all relevant stakeholders at all times.
  • Research and prepare relevant legal documentation, under supervision of more senior colleagues, to support and manage external counsel
  • Represent the Company in courts, arbitrations and other legal forums
  • Perform legal research on legislation relevant to the Company in order to stay up to date on all relevant legislation
