The mineralogist ensures the full description of the rocks, minerals and safe execution of day-to-day operational geology group including ore control and blending. The successful candidate will also ensure the continued development and tracking of the minerals and elements management program. Also, the mineralogist will oversee site exploration and development drill programs including coordination and collection of geological and survey data, proper sample protocol, Quality Control/Quality Assurance and development and updates to the geologic models.
Job Specific Accountabilities Under general supervision, provides technical advice and guidance in mineralogical exploration, testing and analysis at assigned site.
Supports and performs routine and complex mineralogical analysis on exploration, mine and rock samples. Will implement and develop procedures and protocols for mineralogical instrumentation such as Microscopy (optical, SEM-EDS-WDS, QEMSCAN), XRD, NIR and Particle-Size Analysis
Develop, coordinate, and lead epithermal-focused exploration programs within budget
Motivate programs and effective reporting of exploration activities and implications of results
Assist in the development of exploration models for epithermal minerals deposits and target/project generation activities
Proactively supervise 3rd party properties; initiate reviews as warranted
Forward planning to ensure efficient and timely coordination of resources required for preparation and conduct of exploration activities
Preparation of annual programs and budgets
Ensure programs are consistent with ADNOC's strategic needs and goals
Reviews and recommends new or enhanced mineralogical analyses, testing equipment or protocols, reports analytical issues related to exploration, mine geology, mineral processing, hydrometallurgy, pyrometallurgy, and environmental concerns and may make recommendations to the Senior Mineralogist for correction
Assists specific sample preparation work and application of ore characterization methods, performing and coordinating general material characterization projects and handling related analytical data for reporting
Evaluates and administers contracts with vendors for the provision of services and equipment; provides guidance and counsel to the site management team on applicable programs, practices and existing/proposed local, regulations and maintains a current working knowledge of applicable regulations
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Geology or related scientific discipline
Knowledge of the principles and methods used in complex mineralogical analyses
Able to research and analyze information of considerable difficulty and draw valid conclusions
Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions
Maintain a professional work environment and encourage technical excellence from team
Ensure the effective collection and interpretation of exploration data, including QAQC protocols
Ensure that company resources are optimally utilized
Implement approved programs, bringing targets to decision points in a cost effective and timely manner
Proven commitment to safety, community and environment.
Bachelor of Science or Master of Science from a recognized institution.
10 years of applicable experience and expertise in exploration for a variety of minerals and elements deposits with an emphasis on epithermal and sediment-hosted systems in variety of geologic environments
Self-motivated and driven
Continued professional development and technical training
Demonstrated competence in ArcGIS and 3D modeling software
Geological/geochemical/geophysical interpretive and integration skills
Firm understanding and recognition of mineralization models and geological processes
Ability to work within a robust team
Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
Preferred Education, Work Experience & Training:
Bachelor (Preferred Master) of Science Degree in Geology or related field.
The successful candidate must have a minimum of 10+ years' mining experience in dealing with minerals and elements form the mineralogical point of view.
Study of Minerals and deposits.
Experience with engineering and economic criteria used for mining/processing of Minerals deposits.
Technical Skills:
Ability to meet deadlines and work with minimum supervision.
Functional knowledge of multiple resource calculation methods, exploration programs, and UAE geology are all preferred.
Significant experience working with database.
Extensive travel required
Solid understanding of geology, mineral camps, and prospective geologic terrain for discovery of economic minerals and rock deposits, especially salt and sabkhas and ore minerals.
Coordinate peer reviews of exploration programs
Coordinate the timely and accurate compilation of exploration results and review project progress for weekly reporting
Contribution to the preparation and presentation of quarterly reviews
Preparation of material as required for inclusion in company presentations
Participate in annual budget project reviews

Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment
Work is in a mine or manufacturing plant setting
Physical Working Conditions:
Field site visits are necessary, and the candidate must be capable of site inspections that may include hiking over rough terrain.
Overnight travel may be required.

Data Management:
Performs the QA/QC of technical data, interpreted and/or processed by the service companies.
Supports senior in data management activities including organizing and archiving of geological data and interpretation results in the corporate database.

No supervision role but participates in team discussions in order to help the ream meeting the functional objectives.
