Department Definition Located at Expo 2020 Dubai, Firdaus Studio by A.R. Rahman is set to become the region's first world-class recording studio and film scoring facility. As part of the collaboration between Expo 2020 and legendary composer A.R. Rahman, it will also serve as a creative space where artists in the UAE, and from around the world, can collaborate, perform, and expand their musical horizons together. Opportunity Responsibilities Firdaus studio will have various use cases including Recording/Mixing mode, Performance Mode and Cinema Mode. As a sound technician you will need to be comfortable in all of these uses cases. The main responsibilities of the role include: Assist “Senior Audio Engineer” and “Recording Engineer” to create documentation for studio best practices, equipment tracking and logistics;Learn studio design, layout, patching nomenclature and begin familiarizing yourself with input lists and floor plans for future sessions, learn about studio workflows and equipment usage, help to ensure that the equipment installation and setup is inline the design requirements;Coordinate with “Recording Engineer” on cable and instrument storage, rehearse and refine live room transitions between Recoding Mode, Performance Mode and Cinema Mode;Assisting the “Senior Audio Engineer” and “Recording Engineer” in planning recording sessions with artists or musicians, set up the required equipment, floor plans and microphone configurations;Keep track and list all analog and digital equipment needed during the recording sessions, cable management, pre-session, during and post recording session;Coordinate with the “AV Technician” for session video recording requirements and remote video streaming requirements;Assist in setting up and testing sound equipment, conducting sound checks, assist the monitor engineer who will be mixing the sound that performers will hear through the stage monitor system or in-ear wireless system, set up and test the PA, amplifiers, cabling and monitor wedges;Assist the “Senior Audio Engineer” and/or “Recording Engineer” with any audio testing and calibration.Skills 6+ years of work experience, as well as: A Bachelor's degree within a relevant field;Record of participation in audiovisual projects is advantageous;Practical experience with recording, editing and mixing software;Familiarity with audio mixing consoles, microphones and equalizers;Ability to follow instructions and remain professional under pressure;Sound troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
