Job Description

AECOM have an opportunity for a Safety, Health & Environment (SH&E) Advisor for a UAE National on one of our exciting site projects in Al Ain. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the highest standards of safety and environmental compliance across our projects. Supporting on all SH&E matters, you will collaborate with project teams, contractors, and stakeholders to implement and monitor SH&E requirements. With a focus on aligning AECOM, project, and legislative standards, you will set a strong example of personal Health & Safety and contribute to the success of our innovative projects.

  • Serve as the field/project point of contact for Safety, Health & Environment (SH&E) matters at AECOM.

  • Assist in identifying and implementing SH&E requirements, ensuring alignment with local regulations, project specifications, and AECOM's business standards.

  • Function as the on-site/project SH&E liaison, overseeing compliance and stakeholder alignment.

  • Conduct daily inspections of contractor activities, ensuring adherence to SH&E policies, plans, and contractual obligations.

  • Perform visual inspections, document and communicate issues, and facilitate prompt resolution through the project reporting system.

  • Coordinate and actively participate in SH&E meetings, including potential chairing and record-keeping responsibilities.

  • Submit comprehensive safety inspection reports to the Resident Engineer and/or project leads, seeking necessary support.

  • Review and assess risk mitigation documentation, including plans, procedures, Safe Work Method Statements, and Risk Assessments.

  • Validate SH&E requirements in contractor-submitted documentation, ensuring consistency with safe work methodologies.

  • Monitor the proper maintenance, calibration, and operation of safety equipment on-site.

  • Ensure the provision and maintenance of site security, fire safety, first aid, and welfare facilities.

  • Assist in investigating incidents and near misses, following client and AECOM procedures, and implementing preventive measures.

  • Provide regular reports to Project and SH&E Leads on project status and compliance.

  • Attend relevant training sessions, including risk assessment training, and seek additional training as needed.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Engineering, Occupational Safety, or related field.

  • NEBOSH GC and/or equivalent certification preferred.

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in Safety, Health & Environment.

  • As part of AECOM’s commitment to Emiratisation, only UAE Nationals with a family book will be considered for this role.
